Bio

George Carlton McGee (5 Jul 1917 – 29 Apr 1993) served during World War II after enlisting on 19 Nov 1942, and was later discharged on 6 Aug 1946. A newspaper notice reports that Lt. George C. McGee was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service as a communications officer with the 924th Field Artillery Battalion, in connection with operations against the enemy from Nov. 11, 1944 to May 8, 1945, in Belgium and Germany.

The same notice states he was serving as an artillery battery commander near Nuremberg, Germany.

George was the son of Mabel Virginia Corum (listed in the notice as Mrs. W. C. Corum) and was married to Elinor Hope McGee. He is buried at Berry Highland West Memorial Park in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee.
